Jana Beňová was born in Bratislava (Slovak Republic) in 1974. Her novel, Café Hyena(Plánodprevádzania) / Café Hyena (Seeing pople off), won the 2012 European Union Prize for Literature. And as far it was translated in to nine languages. She is the author of three books of poetry, shortstories collection 12 poviedok a Ján Med (12 shortstories and Ján Med). The novels: Parker (2001), Café Hyena (Plán odprevádzania)(Seeing people off) (2008), Preč! Preč! (Away! Away!) (2012) and collection of her newspaper columns, Jana Beňová—Dnes (Jana Beňová—Today) (2010). The most recent novel – Honeymoon - was published in 2015.
